Barrington Stage Company - Theatre in the Berkshires

Professional Internship Program

The Professional Internship Program is an intensive summer internship offered to college age students interested in pursuing careers in theatre. Interns work with award-winning theatre professionals while spending a summer in the thriving theatre culture of the Berkshires, just a few hours from Boston and New York. Participants are chosen through a competitive application process to train and gain professional experience in various facets of professional Equity theatre.

Barrington Stage Company has become the fastest growing arts venue in Berkshire County, attracting some 45,000 patrons each year, and gaining national recognition for its superior quality productions and comprehensive educational programming. BSC’s reputation for award-winning excellence is hard-earned; schedules are rigorous, providing the experience needed to become well-rounded theatre professionals. Applicants must show a strong interest in furthering their professional development and a commitment to working as part of a team in a top notch theatre setting.

Interns are required to complete an entire summer season’s residency with the Company. Start and end dates vary by position, but the typical internship begins Memorial Day Weekend and runs until August 31st. Students must provide their own transportation to and from the program, as well as during the duration of the program. Housing and a stipend of $85/week are provided. Housing is typically within a ten minute drive of the theatre. College credit may be available. Check with your school for further details.
